Tendonitis

The tissues attaching your muscles to the bones in your shoulders, elbows, heels, and wrists are known as tendons. When those tissues become inflamed and swollen as the result of aging, overuse, continuous repetitive movements, or disease, you may be diagnosed with tendonitis.

Types of Painful Tendonitis

There are many types of painful tendonitis. They include:

  • Achilles tendonitis – affecting the tendon connecting the calf muscle to the heel bone
  • De Quervain’s tenosynovitis – affecting the tendons along the thumb side of the wrist
  • Golfer’s elbow
  • Patellar tendonitis – an injury of the connective tissue between the shinbone and kneecap
  • Shoulder impingement syndrome
  • Tennis elbow
  • Tendonitis of the wrist

Expert Treatment of Tendonitis in Northwest Indiana

At Orthopaedic Surgical Consultants in Crown Point, Indiana, our team of board-certified specialists are experts in the diagnosis and treatment of tendonitis. Most symptoms can be relieved with a treatment plan of splinting, medication, and rest. However, if your pain is more severe and these methods are not effective, we can surgically remove the inflamed tissue, thereby creating a larger space for the tendons to move.

Put an end to tendonitis pain by consulting with one of our highly skilled and caring orthopaedic physicians. Call our office today at (219) 662-2279 or use our convenient Request an Appointment form to schedule a visit.
