About Alexis Dunlap, NP

Alexis Dunlap, DNP, FNP-BC, is a family nurse practitioner at Orthopaedic Surgical Consultants in Merrillville, Indiana. She brings over a decade of nursing experience to the practice. 

Alexis is a registered nurse and advanced practice nurse with a certificate in fitness. She is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and completed a bachelor’s degree in health sciences at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. She earned another bachelor's degree in nursing at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. 

Alexis also completed a master’s degree in nursing at Belmont University and obtained a doctorate in nursing practice at Purdue University Global. She was a member of Sigma Theta Tau and has published research in numerous professional medical journals.

She has received numerous awards, including the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Scholarship and Dean’s List recognition from Belmont and Purdue Universities. She’s also a member of the American Nurses Association and maintains her medical credentials with continuing education. 

While Alexis has accrued much of her nursing experience in urgent care and family practice settings, she is eager to learn more about supporting the orthopedic needs of her patients. Alexis enjoys caring for her patients, restoring their musculoskeletal function, and improving their quality of life. Her compassionate demeanor helps patients feel at ease during their visits to Orthopaedic Surgical Consultants. 

She looks forward to warmly welcoming both new and returning patients to the practice.

With her diverse background and dedication to providing high-quality patient care, Alexis Dunlap is a valuable addition to the team. Prior to joining the practice she worked as a nurse practitioner at multiple facilities throughout the northwest Indiana region treating a variety of urgent care and primary care conditions.

Alexis holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from Purdue University, as well as a Master of Science in Nursing from Belmont University. She began her academic journey at Purdue University, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Health Science.

Alexis is a licensed advanced practice nurse in both Tennessee and Indiana. She holds a Certificate of Fitness and CSR-Prescriptive Authority in Indiana. Alexis has received recognition for her academic achievements, including the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Scholarship.
